Aula Ground Floor, Quadrangle. NUI, Galway

The Design, Refurbishment & Fit out of the Ground Floor, Aula Maxima, for The National University of Ireland, Galway
The project involved the refurbishment of the ground floor of the Aula Maxima, a significant protected structure. The brief required that the space be redesigned from what was a dark, damp ad underused space, to a modern, bright and flexible facility which provided a variety of uses, from executive/boardroom meetings, to public lectures & presentations, to concerts and high end dining.
The existing building was completely restored to the highest of conservation standards while the requirements of a modern & flexible building, with a particularly high level of services, were also successfully incorporated into the design. Modern insertions were incorporated into the space with flair which complemented the historic fabric of the original building, resulting in a bright modern space respectful of its' historic location.
Services provided included Employers Rep., Full Architectural, Project Management, Interior Design, Fire Safety & Health & Safety Management. Brazil Associates also designed a range of bespoke furniture for the Aula, including boardroom tables and stage furniture.
